Victim Quick Response Program

The Victim Quick Response Program+ (VQRP+) provides short-term financial support toward essential expenses for victims, their immediate family members and witnesses in the aftermath of a violent crime to help reduce the impact of the crime, enhance safety, and meet immediate practical needs. Supports are available to meet the most basic and critical needs when no other means are available.

Eligibility criteria for the program vary depending on the type of crime that occurred and strict timelines also apply. Please consult with Victim Services for more information and eligibility parameters.

The VQRP+ is a Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services Program implemented by Victim Services. Eligibility criteria, timelines, and application approvals are determined by the Ministry.

Anti-Human Trafficking

Victim Services of Kingston and Frontenac works in close partnership with the Kingston Police, first responders and community agencies to address the immediate safety and support of victims. It is the prioritized goal of VSKF to support those affected by Human Trafficking by providing emotional support, tools and information about what’s available in the community, and ongoing care and communication to help establish long-term plans for their future.

Victim Services of Kingston & Frontenac also has access to funding and support through the Victim Quick Response Program+ (VQRP+) specific for victims of Human Trafficking. This program provides victims with immediate financial assistance based on a case-specific assessment. Please speak with Victim Services Staff for more information about available funds through the VQRP+ and the eligibility requirements.

Youth and Family Support

The Youth and Family Support Program by Victim Services is dedicated to addressing the unique needs of young victims and their families who have experienced crime or trauma. This program offers tailored advocacy and educational resources to help youth and their families navigate the aftermath of traumatic events. Additionally, the program includes support for those impacted by crimes committed by youth when participating at restorative justice tables, promoting healing and accountability. Empathy workshops for youth are conducted to foster understanding, emotional healing, and positive coping strategies. Victim Services focuses on the well-being and recovery of youth, their families, and the community to rebuild a sense of safety, stability, and hope for the future.

Intervention K9

Victim Services’ Intervention K9 program leverages the therapeutic power of trained service dogs to support victims of crime and trauma. Haven, a specially trained canine, provides comfort, emotional support, and a sense of safety to individuals during highly stressful situations. By offering a calming presence, Haven helps reduce anxiety, build trust, and facilitate communication between victims and support personnel. This approach not only enhances the emotional well-being of victims but provides holistic and empathetic care.
